Nature Writer & Storyteller

A Brief Bio

I have a Ph.D. in Geology and spent years in a research bubble of sedimentology, clay mineralogy, and paleoclimatology. But my fascination with this planet has expanded to other ‘ologies’ because I like to sense the interconnectedness of it all…

I’m now a nature and science writer — I write essays and articles on interesting things that happen in nature and the brilliant people who discover them.

I’m also a copy editor and copywriter, determined to craft stories that invoke emotion and change.

If you’d like some more info or to collaborate on a writing project, please reach out here — I’d love to chat.

Saving corals from silent extinctions requires a new approach

Dr Tom Bridge and an international team of coral taxonomists, historians and GIS experts are changing the way we identify coral species. In a twist, their innovative research now requires a return to the past, with nautical history playing an integral role in deciding which key locations to sample next.

“Bridge’s unique research is redefining our understanding of reef coral diversity, with important implications for conservation; for how can we conserve corals if we don’t accurately know which species grow where?”
